Prison Ministry
...to bring God's love to the poor, healing to the broken-hearted,
and freedom to those bound by darkness... Isaiah 61:1
Our vision is to transform the city of Chicago by transforming the lives of ex-offenders who are committed to serving Christ. Through our Christian discipleship training we develop, equip, and empower men and women to change their lives and the lives of their families. Our goal is to reduce recidivism from over 50% to less than 10% for our graduates while releasing them as powerful leaders and change agents into the broken neighborhoods from which they came.
Some of the ways we do this is through:
- Providing teachers in a classroom setting within the prison walls, individual mentoring and discipleship training and sharing of the gospel by doing cell-by-cell visits.
- Establishing Programs including a holistic faith based residential re-entry program that begins one year prior to release and continues for up to two years after release offering counseling, mentoring, job readiness training, life skills training and Christian discipleship. See the ministry of Bridge To Freedom for more information.
- Implementing a plan to network prison ministries to ensure an inmate gets continuous and maturing discipleship whether they are transferred to another prison, or they are released back to society.
