Partnering with Others

A Life Patter of an Insider - From the Detroit Metro Faith@Work Team

"Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up." Solomon, King of Israel - Ecclesiastes 4:9,10

Friendships are growing, conversations occasionally dip below the surface waters of sports and weather and politics. You’re taking time with each other and they have come to realize you set the clocks of your lives by the Bible. They are watching to see what that does to a person.

You’re praying for them and are eager, with hearts fluttering, to suggest getting a few mutual friends together to read the Bible. When the time is right, you’ll ask them.

But before then, you need some partners who can share the load with you in what’s coming next. You’re inviting a few people to ‘come and see’. Getting together mornings before work or during lunch in a congenial workplace setting or favorite lunch venue works great. Evenings in a home setting are ideal. Food is always a good idea. But who to invite? Who will lead and how? Whose home or whose workplace? And where will the courage come from?

Doing this with other colleagues in the workplace or with others in a home setting encourages all of you, spurs you on, and makes the most of your various gifting. None of us has it all, even though we think we should! God has designed us incomplete without each other. The Holy Spirit links us and fills in our gaps.

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another." Apostle Peter - 1 Peter 4:9

So, do you have some friends in mind to ‘team up’ with? Pray about them, for them, and with them. Talk with them and then begin praying for those friends you both have who you may want to invite to check out the Scriptures with you. Then begin planting the seeds of invitation among your friends. Summer’s a great time to take time with your friends. You may be very pleasantly surprised at how interested they really are!
