Here in the New York, we are praising the Lord for His awesome work and faithfulness!!
Steve and Audrey Tice are seeing lots of fruit in their Bible reading groups coming from insider relationships of their music school and community and neighbors. He has been working hard the past year and a half to train and bring together a team of Church Discipleship Ministry teachers and trainers in our area from staff and stakeholder across New Jersey and New York City. He also received training this past summer to work in the Willow Creek REVEAL survey training to aid participating churches.
Donna and Andy Puleo are ministering from Eastern Long Island across the area. They have been experiencing Christian community on several fronts at once. They have been able to work with a few people using complementary gifts to accomplish God's good. This has happened through projects, in crises, and by intentional communication of encouragement over the phone or in person. They sense that this can be developed into something strong and eventually could become a "safety net".
Last year, they saw a bond of unity form among young city leaders through the Leadership Symposium. Paul Stanley and Terry Cook led the group. Andrew and Lilian hosted 4 significant and well done events.
We, Ernie and Judy Scalabrin, are seeing absolutely incredible moving of God in our neighborhood ministry.
This year in addition to a teaching a public elementary/middle school Bible study club, we now have permission to do another Bible study club in our regional high school! To do this is in an metro area of the northeast is just unheard of. The high school is fed by four towns with an unprecedented multicultural and international mix of people. Students are inviting their friends and God is moving! We have seen young people come to Christ in both schools including our daughters friends from El Salvador. We are building relationships with these girls' families as well. Through our family relationships God has opened up numerous doors and this influence is growing as we love these families.
Ernie has also been discipling men in the community and in other parts of the country and we are seeing great things as God moves among these businessmen. Judy is working hard as a home health nurse and had a significant spiritual influence for Christ on her patients throughout our metro area.
Some Prayer Requests:
- Hedge of spiritual protection on all our marriages families and individuals.
- Significant needs for financial support among our staff. Costs of living are highest in the nation, which puts a lot of stress on family and ministry. Favor with new and current donors, churches, and creative new funding ideas.
- God's continued fruitfulness and powerfully moving in our international multicultural multi-age, multi-context areas of ministry.
- Wisdom on how to develop more cohesion among staff across all our streams of ministry; without creating a time burden in a large and very complex, international and bustling metro area.
- Housing for James and Suni Puleo as they move to Queens.
