During the months of August and September, the Washington DC Metro has been conducting a pilot project on a new ministry called Faith @ Work. The title itself may not be new, but the way in which we integrate technology with ministry is attracting a lot of attention.
Faith @ Work is a mid-week, lunch time conference call where we read the Bible and/or conduct a study via a telephone conference call. It is designed to provide a tool to invite not yet Christians from ones work to a place where they can express their faith.
The process is something like this:
- Starting at 12:00 EST we read the Bible for about 10-15 minutes.
- Over the next 15-20 minutes, an invited guest speaker expands on the passage.
- At 12:30 (EST) the conference call is ended and a moderator in a small group setting at their office, conference room, cafeteria or other designated areas, leads the group with application oriented questions that are provided to her/him.
Faith @ Work gives team leaders the opportunity to invite co-workers to join the weekly Bible discussion in a non-intrusive, comfortable environment.
The Faith @ Work mission is to help business women and men integrate and express their faith where they work, play and live. We envision a world in which successful people communicate Jesus by life and word.
In the context of a small group of peers, we equip them to demonstrate:
- The ethics of Jesus in their decisions
- The attractiveness of Jesus in their person
- The focus of Jesus in their purpose
- The love and humility of Jesus in their relationships and
- The justice of Jesus in their negotiations

Several churches have taken an interest and are sponsoring the ministry and encouraging their congregation to participate as an extension to their already evangelistic ministry of their church. A local radio station is promoting the ministry as our media partner. The ministry will launch Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
Please pray that Faith @ Work will be used to advance the Gospel of Jesus to reach those who are not yet Christians, and encourage believers to shine where they are.
