The book is sharpening our awareness of the spiritual battle around us, while encouraging us to trust God more fully in life's various contexts. Matt and Stacey joined our inner city team to serve in Albany Park, one of the most diverse neighborhoods on Chicago's north side. They are developing relationships with Muslim families and opening their home to share their faith.

I sat restlessly at the Greyhound station in Chicago at 11:30 the night of January 13. I was there to meet Corinthian who, just hours previously, had been released from 10 years in prison. Naomi first met and adopted him as a spiritual son a couple years ago when he was out briefly on parole. Now, his full sentence had been fulfilled and he was ready to begin the rest of his life.

One of the exciting things we are seeing in Chicago is God connecting us with folks who do not yet know Him. In the past months, we have seen friends from at least four different realms within Chicagoland come to Christ.

Music impacts many lifestyle choices for our youth including clothing trends, product purchases, and even their belief systems. The week of April 16th – 23rd 2009, eleven Americans were killed in the nation of Iraq, while in the city of Chicago, over the weekend alone, 32 were shot and 2 stabbed, leaving 7 dead. Twenty were shot in less than 24 hours. On April 23, 5 more were killed in a South Side shooting. That's twelve killed in this U.S. city over the same period. Music is not the only culprit, but it often promotes rebellious thoughts and violent activity.
