One opportunity that brings Sue repeated joy is investing in the spiritual well-being of a young woman named Deborah. Sue first met her in 2004 when she arrived in the U.S. with her family from Jos, Nigeria. At that time Deborah began attending high school not far from our home. Three years later when she enrolled in a university in Seattle, her parents returned to Nigeria. The Lord gave Sue a deep, heart desire to walk alongside Deborah on campus as long as she was interested in getting together.

On the first Saturday of each month a group of twenty friends from the greater Seattle area gather to share the things they are learning from the Bible about justice, poverty and corruption. The seeds for this learning community were sown in 2008 when Nigerian Navigator Okorie Kalu came to Seattle and facilitated a number of discussions on this topic.

Recently, we hosted the African American Congress on Discipleship here in Norfolk, VA. We had almost 300 present, with attendees traveling across America to be with us. The theme was Individual Discipleship: Each One Of Us Investing Our Life In That Of Another.
